The Sword

Wars and Rumors of Wars

Placeholder Picture

In the Bible, "The Sword" often refers to wars that are coming to a nation. Wars are one form of God's judgment, and also a sign of Christ's Second Coming.

As judgment, wars are a wake-up call to gain His people's attention, to inform them that He is not pleased with their continued disobedience. God has warned many times in the Old Testament that war ("The Sword") would come as judgment, particularly in Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel. A good example is Isaiah 1:20 (NASB), "'But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.' For the mouth of the Lord has spoken."

As a last days sign, the increase in wars is noted to to inform Christians that time of Christ's return is drawing near, and as a reminder to remain personally ready, and also to renew and increase our efforts to reach the lost with the Gospel. Matthew 24:6-7 says, "And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom..."

America today is extremely vulnerable from EXTERNAL (or international) wars on FOUR fronts simultaneously:
- China vs. Taiwan (also vs. Phillipines, Japan, India and Australia)
- Russia vs. Ukraine (also the EU, or the NATO alliance, and USA)
- North Korea vs. South Korea (also Japan and USA)
- Iran vs. Israel (Israel also v. Gaza, Syria, Jordan, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al Qaeda, Isis, PLO, Abu Nidal, and over a dozen minor groups)

A "hot" war COULD break out on any one of these four fronts. Should that occur, for instance due to a lapse in judgment, or an unwise statement by someone in leadership, the risk would immediately be multiplied exponentially on the other three fronts, as an opportunity would be presented to the other adversaries who could see our inability (and the unwillingness of our weak-willed president and generals) to defend ourselves on multiple fronts. One or more of these wanna-be world leaders would observe us with our attention elsewhere and thus take an opportunity to make the move that they have long lusted and planned.

To make our position even more precarious, America is equally vulnerable, if not more so, from INTERNAL threats. "The Sword" can also apply to violence, assault and death resulting from:
- Criminal violence
- Domestic assault and murder
- Internal terrorism (BLM, Antifa)
- Foreign terrorism (i.e. Islamic)
- Political polarization

===========================

- Criminal violence
Have you watched or read ANY news, and seen the unbelievable increase in criminal violence in the last two years, and especially in recent months? Have you, or people you know, tried to kid yourselves that "it's always been this way"? No, it hasn't. I don't trust everything the FBI says, but the statistics they've provided reveal increases over the last few years that can't just be blamed on the virus. They can't be blamed on "inequity", which, by the way, is worse EVERYWHERE ELSE in the world than here. Check out Mexico, or China, or Russia, or anywhere you might suggest.

- Domestic assault and murder
In those news reports you may have seen young men running down sidewalks and battering old, crippled or otherwise helpless people for no reason, not even to rob them. They've been thrown into the sidewalk, fire hydrants or into the path of moving vehicles, as if random killing is somehow fun.

- Internal terrorism (BLM, Antifa)
Individual and gang killings aside, there is also the violence caused by the Antifa and BLM organized criminals, which have the blessings of the Democrat party, most major news networks, most academia, entertainers and professional sports figures. They are able to point the finger at an incredibly small in comparison number of so-called right-wing organizations which they call "militias" as if that excuses the much larger amount of killings and billions of dollars of damage to homes, businesses and government properties.

- Foreign terrorism (i.e. Islamic)
Even though our eyes are distracted by internal struggles and strife, our non-state-sponored enemies like ISIS and al-Qaeda have not reduced their hatred for America, who they continue to consider "the great Satan". They murdered three thousand of unsuspecting American citizens on September 11, 2001 in the name of the Islamic religion, and continue to plan and carry out murder, assassinations and military operations worldwide in that name to this day.

- Political polarization
In my younger days (1950's thru 1970's), Democrats and Republicans opposed each other's political positions, but respected each other and many were personal friends when outside the halls of Congress and similar venues. Not so today. The seething hatred, the downright criminal acts and blatant dirty tricks that are used, covered up by baldfaced lies and a more-than-cooperative news media have brought the country to a boiling point. Compromise and cooperation for the purpose of soe progress, any progress seems to be out of the question.

It is the country, indeed all nations, that face the judgment and wrath of God. Yet individually, each person on earth may, should, indeed must seek the free gift of being set free from sin that God's Son Jesus offers to every person who seeks Him. If you choose to receive Christ as your personal Savior, He will forgive your sins and set you free for all eternity.

Receive Christ as your personal Savior now!
